PokerStars!

It is official. I am a poker superstar.....I finished 4th in a local casino tournament. Made a little money at that one.

It is like the door to good and evil has just opened. I can see both the sudden value and demise of my life. It is a delicate balance...the whole thing between addiction and winning. Addicted to the winning, addicted to the rush of the game, addicted to the battle of wills. I hate the losing. I hate the loss of money. Dammit, why does poker taunt me.

It is the best of times, it is the worst of times.

Oh for the love of....

Where do people get off? (no this is not a sexual post)

A garbage member of society, who is a convicted criminal, who is in breach of his probation, runs from police. The police chase him, send a police dog after him, and when the police dog catches him, he stabs the police dog repeatedly. As any good officer does, who sees a fellow officer in a life threatening situation, the partner draws his weapon and shoots this man several times.

You would think that is the end of the story....but no. The mother of the convicted dirtbag is complaining because police shouldn't have shot at her kid. Are you freaking kidding me? He was stabbing a police officer with a knife! You may wish to argue the point that it is only a dog, but a dog on duty is just as much a police officer as any person is. Someone needs to take this woman aside, and perhaps explain to her that it was her poor parenting that got her child shot, and not the bad and nasty police man.

Now here in Richmond there was a police chase. A woman in a vehicle who was known to police, and was known to be prohibited from driving was in a vehicle driving down the road. The police engage in an effort to pull her over, and she proceeds to speed away. The police are forced to chase this women in a high speed persuit. Now, you can again argue that perhaps high speed persuits are not the best option, however this woman has been prohibited from driving. There is a reason for that. Has she killed someone before? Is she a chronic drunk driver, which makes her a menace to society? Either way, the police engage her and she flees. During the pursuit, she strikes a vehicle driven by an innocent civilian and he is killed in the crash. My sympathies go out to that family, however now they are getting a lawyer and looking at suing the Richmond police force. This country is becoming more and more American everyday and it is frightening. If the family wishes to seek renumeration, which will not bring their father back, they need to seek it through the criminal, not the people doing their jobs. Had the police let her drive on by, and she killed someone else while driving while prohibited they would be dealing with the backlash of that. When will we stop blaming police for the actions of the criminals? If a death or damage, or any other event occurs that is the direct result of that initial criminal act, than it should be tacked on to your list of crimes. I don't care if because you are stealing a car, and a police officer responding to that runs over a pedestrian wearing all black, you are liable for that death. Murder One. Go to prison, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

It is time we toughen up sentences. It is time we make criminals pay for their actions, and it is time we respect our police for the bullshit they put up with daily.

Oh yeah...I think we should really do something in Israel quickly....they are getting out of hand. The whole lot of them. Not just Israel, but the whole middle east.
