Fucking Muggles.

April 9, 1917.

Amazing how many people forget. Amazing how many people forgot. Amazing how many people never knew, cared or will care.

There is more Canadian blood spilled throughout Europe then there is on our own soil, and we forget. The sacrifice these people made for us is symbolized by monuments we never visit, a holiday we take for granted, and a plastic flower we hardly take the time to wear. If not for that sacrifice where would we be now. If not for that sacrifice what would the face of our nation be. It wasn't merely battle for democracy and freedom of Europe, but it was a defining moment in the birth of a nation.
My country born out of adversity, born from the spirit of the ultimate sacrifice, and in return we callously turn our back on the memory of those before us.

When you forget where you came from, you have no direction in where you are going. We as a nation are forgetting where we came from, we are becoming as rudderless as the U.S. It is not about November 11, or about a poppy, or about giving thanks. It is about not taking for granted those that sacrificed for us in the past, and sacrifice for us in the present. We lost 6 more today. While you may not agree with why they are there, we need to support them while they are there.
